RULES: There are many different formats of playing golf, the most common would be singles stroke play. In this format you can play with up to four players per group but you are playing as an individual. You must swap score cards with your playing partners on the first tee this means that they will recore your score per hole and you will record theres to ensure that no one is cheating. Your score per hole is measured in the amount of shots that you take to get in the hole. At the end of the 18 holes you then total up your score and that sum is your gross score.
There are 3 types of holes a par 3 a par 4 and a par 5. If you score a 3 on a par 3 then you have got a par is you get a 4 on a par 3 it is a bogey and if you get a 5 on a par 3 it is a double bogey etc and if you get a 2 on a par 3 it is a birdie , this is the same system for each of the holes. How to calculate net score ? you take your gross score and take it away from your handicap, for example if i shoot a gross 82 and I play of 12 then i have shot a net 70. If the par of the course is 72 then you have shot two better than your handicap therefore it will be reduced. Men usualy start of with a handicap of 28 and women start at 36.
